PET-CT combines a metabolic scan with a CT scan to show where cancer is active in the body. It helps stage cancer accurately, plan treatment and check how well treatment is working.

Time to plan in India: 1 to 2 days

Who needs it?

  • Newly diagnosed cancer needing staging

  • Checking response to treatment

How it's done

  1. Fasting for about 6 hours

  2. Injection of a small amount of tracer

  3. Rest for about an hour, then a 20 to 30 minute scan

  4. A report is shared with your oncologist

Recovery timeline

  • No recovery time; drink plenty of water afterwards
